Flood killed 20 in Indonesia

Jakarta:- Floods and landslides have killed at least 20 people in Indonesia. Five others are still missing and nine others were injured, government officials said on Sunday.

According to the National Disaster Management Office, floods and landslides hit the eastern Nusa Tenggara province on Sunday morning. A spokesperson of the office, Raditya Jati, informed that the natural calamity took place at around 1 am local time.

Preliminary details have been made public that dozens of houses and other physical structures were damaged due to the floods and landslides. Those injured in the incident were treated at a local hospital, according to a statement issued by the spokesperson.

Meanwhile, 17 people are missing after a fishing boat collided with a large vessel off the coast of West Java, Indonesia, on Saturday evening. A spokesman for the Bandung Rescue Agency, Seni Ulandari, said 15 people had been rescued and the search for 17 others was ongoing. –Sinhwa
