Kathmandu: – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has become even more powerful in the ruling UML. By amending the constitution of the parliamentary party, the Prime Minister and Chairman Oli has been given the right to suspend any MP for six months if he acts against the party’s interests and to change the proportional MP.

From the official correspondence on behalf of the party to the Election Commission, courts and other constitutional bodies, the party has been given the right to select the party’s deputy leader and party leader in the National Assembly.

A meeting of the Central Committee held at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar on Saturday decided to delegate these powers to Oli. Senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal was absent at the meeting.

The meeting has sought clarification from senior leader Nepal and four other leaders saying that they have acted against the party’s interest. Leader Pradip Gyawali said that it has been decided to hold a meeting of national cadres on Chaitra-4 and 5 to seek clarification on the party’s activities against the party’s interest.
