Makawanpur: – The organization of Journalists, the Federation of Nepali Journalists, has announced the date of the election for which the Nepal Press Union is busy preparing in the preparation for the election in Makawanpur. A meeting of the working committee of the Nepal Press Union Makawanpur and the election mobilization and coordination committee held on Thursday has decided to go to the polls under the leadership of Maniraj Gautam, vice-chairman of the press union Makawanpur.

It has also been decided that the election mobilization committee will hold necessary talks and discussions with other organizations accepting Gautam’s leadership. Though Gautam’s candidature for the post of president has been decided on behalf of the union, other remaining posts will be decided very soon, said Post Raj Kumar Adhikari, president of the union Makawanpur.

A seven-member election mobilization and coordination committee has already been formed under the coordination of Union Makawanpur Secretary Keshav Samarpan to hold necessary discussions and interactions with other organizations.

During the meeting, Nepali Congress Makawanpur Spokesperson and Chief of the Communications Department Pradip Koirala wished to go to the Federation to establish the rights of journalists. He also urged to move ahead by cooperating with other organizations united to protect democracy and freedom of press.

Central member of the Nepal Press Union Ram Mani Dahal urged the district working committee to accept the leadership of the union and cooperate with other unions. He said that if the union is not ready to cooperate, federation is able to face the election alone.

The meeting was chaired by Union Makwanpur Chairman Posta Raj Adhikari ‘Kumar’ and was attended by the outgoing chairman of the union Rupesh Dulal, central councilor of the union and secretary of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Makwanpur Ganesh Darpan Adhikari, treasurer Sudip Shivakoti and working committee member Subash Bidari.

A meeting of the election mobilization committee of the union was held on Thursday to formulate working procedures for inter-organizational discussion and interaction and also to decide on financial management. The meeting was convened by Keshav Samarpan, coordinator of the Election Mobilization and Coordination Committee.

The election of the Federation of Nepali Journalist is being held on Chaitra-25.
