Makawanpur: An orientation program on ‘the role of children and men in reducing of child marriage’ was organized by Asmita Nepal on Monday.

The orientation program facilitate by Prakash Khatiwada, Head of Men engage Alliance Nepal and Aarati Pathak, President of Ashmita Nepal, representatives of Raksirang village municipality of West Makwanpur, various non-governmental organizations, civil society and youth groups participated in the program along with the slogan ‘ Child’s interest is education not Marriage’.

At the program presentations were made on the current status of child marriage, the causes of child marriage and its physical and mental challenges, national legal system and policy, National Strategy for reduction of Child Marriage 2072, and international and regional commitments.

Chairman of Raksirang Village Municipality Ward No. 2 Surya Bahadur Moktan, Chairman of Ward No. 3 Babulal Syangtan, Chairman of Parents Group Chitra Bahadur Thing, Chairman of Adolescent Group Ram Kumari Praja, Ram Mijar of Women’s Protection Center Makwanpur and others expressed their views at the program.
