As the CPN(Maoist) leadership dispute escalates, fractional activities have also increased in Bagmati State. On Friday only, students from the side of Executive Kamal Dahal Prachanda and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal had gathered in Kathmandu.

A meeting was organized at the Thapathali Campus with the active participation of Ranjit Tamang, who has been given responsibility of Coordinator of the All Nepal National Free Students Union from the former Maoists, Suresh Parajuli and Wasim Alam.

Standing Committee members Ashtalaxmi Shakya and Pampha Bhusal, former Chairperson of AKHIL Ram Kumar Jhakri and Lekhanth Neupane addressed the gathering.

Earlier, the youth and students leaders of the group gathered at various place of Kathmandu and met leaders including party vice-president Bamdev Gautam.

Over the state, like the Prachanda and Nepal group, fractional gathering have been taking place of the Oli centered leaders. The PM’s official residence in Baluwatar and the office of the Madan Bhandari Foundation in Gaushala have become the center of the Oli centered gathering.

Controversy has erupted on social media and mass media, with leaders protesting against each other, to the point where other group obstruct the program.

Oli centered leaders protested against standing committee member Surendra Pandey while addressing a program at Chitwan. Blaming Surendra for delivering speech against Oli in a program at Chitwan on Mangsir-7,  group protested against him. Arriving in Pokhara next day, Pandey addressed a meeting of the Nepal centered group.

Central member Laxman Lamsal says that efforts have been intensified to take the dispute to the bottom. ” But so far, the cadres have not given their support. Attempts to rally the factional have not been successful as there are no activists in favor of the split,” he said.

Prachanda-Madhav centered group is using the party’s platform to carry out factional activities while the Oli centered is using the banner of Madan Bhandari Foundation. Activities are being carried out to take the foundation to the Wada Level.

Oli has taken a stand not to stop the activities of the foundation even though the standing committee meeting on Bhadra-26 banned the activities of Non-governmental organizations opened in the name of the leaders. Till Chandra Bhattarai, district chairman of the foundation, said that activities are being carried out in Prachanda and Surendra Pandey districts of Chitwan to take the foundation to the Wada level. Madan Bhandari Sport Academy has also been formed in Madi Municipality and Ichhakamana Municipality.

Top leaders have started participating in the factional activities. In the first week of Mangsir, Madhav Nepal addressed the leaders of Bagmati State at a college in Baneshwor.

Earlier, leaders of the Oli faction met on Kartik-22  with the participation of government ministers Krishna Gopal Shrestha and Rameshwar Phyuyal including Ishwar Pokharel, a member of the secretariat who is the deputy prime minister. 62 districts members of Oli’s party participated in the meeting organized under the coordination of CPN-Kathmandu Chairman Krishna Rai.

Another party is also preparing for the alternative of Dormani Paudel, who was elected as the Chief Minister from the Oli faction in Bagmati State. Last Asadh, Prachanda and 42  others from the Nepal group had signed a petition to remove Paudel. However, the non-confidence motion signed by Prachanda and Nepal has been blocked. The CPN ( Maoist) has 80 MPs in the 110-members state assembly of Bagmati State. Of these, Oli become in minority if  Madhav Nepal and Prachanda become together.
