Smart meters are being installed in Hetauda

Makawanpur. Nepal Electricity Authority(NEA) Hetauda Distribution center has been installing smarts meters. NEA has started replacing smart meters which don’t require to do house-to-house reading.

With the installation of smarts meters, NEA has moved ahead towards the implementation of ‘Digital NEA’. It is also expected to help establish a modern system in the field of overall power transmission and consumption.

NEA Hetauda Chief Yogendra Thakur informed that NEA has two types of meters in three phase and single phase and 70,000 people have been receiving services in single phase and 1,271 in three phases units. Thakur informed that NEA has already installed 635 smarts meters and 1,271 meters are going to be replaced soon.

He also said that the work has been doing to install smart meters in Hetauda,  Bakaiya, Manahari and Gadhi Gaupalika. He also added that 20-30 meters are being replaced in a day and work will be completed soon. He informed that the feature of smart meter is that you don’t have to do meter reading from the office and bill will be provided through message on the consumer’s mobile phone.

NEA has stated that there is no need to go from house to house when the office has to cut the power supply and all the work can be done from the office.

NEA has made arrangement to provide service in a complete smart way and it will be much easier for the costumers. In case of confusion  about reading, he can get information through mobile message.

While installing smarts meters, NEA has stated that no penalty will be taken from the house that do not have smart meters. After the installation of smart meter, both the customer and the authority will be comfortable. NEA claims that electricity misuse will be reduced after installing smart meters in all areas. If someone tries to steal electricity by bypassing the meters, he will be informed and the theft will be caught.
