Kathmandu:- The main hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley are full of ICUs and beds for the treatment of corona patients. After the beds were filled, the hospitals had to be referred elsewhere in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Population.

He pointed out that even after the second wave of corona infection, people did not follow public health standards and the infection was spreading rapidly as crowds continued. Even though the government has expanded the beds for treatment, there is a challenge in manpower management, said Achyut Karki.

Doctors have suggested that the government should lock down for at least two weeks to break infection chain. ‘Control doesn’t seem possible now if we don’t lock down for at least two weeks now,’ said Dr. Krishna Kumar, co-ordinator of the Patan Institute of Health Sciences.

Sabin Thapaliya, a co-treatment liaison doctor at TribhuwanTeaching Hospital, suggested that services other than those necessary to control acute infections should be discontinued. Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, Joint Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, said that the next step has to be taken as the criteria could not be followed. There is news in today’s Nagarik Daily.
