Makawanpur: – Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, Chief Minister of Karnali Province, has been saved.
While collecting motion of confidence, he has obtained 22 votes whereas, votes of no-confidence motion against him is only 15. Out of 39 MPs of the State Assembly, 37 members of the state assembly participated in the voting.
A total of 22 votes were cast in favor of the proposal put forward by Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi saying that he has confidence in the state assembly, said Speaker Raj Bahadur Shahi.
His party, the CPN-Maoist, has only 12 MPs in the state assembly. Similarly, the six-member Nepali Congress had also given a vote of confidence to Chief Minister Shahi.
CPN-UML MPs Prakash Jwala, Kurmaraj Shahi, Nanda Singh Buddha and Amar Thapa have given a vote of confidence to Chief Minister Shahi.
On the day of the vote of confidence in the Chief Minister, the CPN-UML had issued a whip to its MPs to vote against the Chief Minister.
Jwala and Nanda Singh Buddha, MPs crossing the floor, were earlier ministers in the royal-led cabinet.
