Makawanpur: – A total of 403 TB patients have been found in Makawanpur district from Shrawan to Poush of the current fiscal year. According to the District Public Health Office, Makawanpur, the data has been collected from the Shrawan to Poush but the data of Magh and Phalgun are yet to be sent by the Rural Municipality.

According to Thakur Paudel, Information Officer at the Public Health Office, Makawanpur, there were 681 TB patients in the district in 2076 BS. According to him, most of the TB patients in Makawanpur are from Hetauda sub-metropolitan municipality and Manahari, Bakaiya and Bagmati municipalities respectively. According to the Public Health Office, Raksirang, Indrasarobar and Kailash have the lowest number of TB patients in the district.

The incidence of tuberculosis has increased in the current fiscal year compared to last year, according to the office and it is estimated that 1,000 tuberculosis patients will be killed in the current fiscal year if the corona virus causes lockdown.

There more than 800 TB patients over Makawanpur.

Tuberculosis accounts for 3 percent of deaths in Makawanpur and 10 percent of patients who need re-treatment after taking anti-tuberculosis drugs.

Tuberculosis treatment services are being provided in Makawanpur from 78 health institutions. Laboratory testing is being provided by 15 health institutions, health office, Manahari village municipality, Bhimphedi village municipality, Bakaiya village municipality, Kailash health post and Bagmati health post.

The Public Health Office, Makawanpur, has started a mobile camp to find the backward patients in the places where there are backward tribes.

According to Paudel, information officer of the Public Health Office, it is a challengeable to find and bring TB patients in the stream of treatment who are not in the treatment process. Patients do not take medicine regularly as they have to come to the treatment center for a long period of time and take medicine daily.
