Makawanpur: – Chief Minister of Bagmati Pradesh Dormani Paudel has said that the superstitions in the society should be abandoned in order to end caste discrimination in our society.

Addressing an interaction program on Dalit-friendly policies and programs organized by ‘Samata Foundation Nepal’ in Hetauda on Wednesday, Chief Minister Paudel said that the superstitions in the society should be abandoned to end caste discrimination.

Chief Minister Paudel said that although the incidence of caste discrimination and untouchability has decreased after the formation of the state government, the incidence of discrimination in the society used to be reported due to non-implementation of the law on the rights of dalits as mentioned in the constitution.

Expressing commitment that the state government would draft a Dalit-friendly bill and discuss it in the state assembly as a government bill, Chief Minister Paudel explained that it is time for the young students of the Dalit community to separate themselves from politics and enter the civil service, judicial service and security forces through higher education.

Speaking on the occasion, members of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly Munu Sigdel, Prem Bahadur Pulami (Chintu) and Juneli Shrestha said that untouchability is still happening in the present times as the past movements have not changed the system but changed the mindset and consciousness. They stressed on the need to improve the living standards as the incidents of ethnic untouchability are directly related to the dignity and living standards of the people.
