112 incident of child marriage reported in Makawanpur

Makawanpur: – In the last 17 months, 112 cases of child marriage have been registered in Makawanpur. According to Sabin Child Helpline Statistic, 112 cases of child marriage have been registered in the last 12 months of the last fiscal year and from Shrawan to Poush of current fiscal year. Over the district, 77 cases in the last fiscal year and 35 cases from Shrawan to Poush were reported.

Out of the 112 incidents of child marriage reported over the district, 87 marriages were canceled, according to the Child Helpline. The helpline Chief Jhavindra Gyawali said that 63 out of 77 child marriages registered last year and 24 out of 35 child marriages have been stopped by mid-poush of this year.

According to him, 77 girls and 35 boys are involved in child marriage. Among them, children in the age group of 16 to 18 years have been found to be involved in child marriage.

The district had registered 28 child marriages in Bakaiya, 17 in Hetauda sub-metropolitan, 9 in Bhimphedi, 8 in Makawanpurgadhi, 5 in Manahari, 5 in Raksirang, 2 in Kailash, one each in Thaha Nagar, Indrasarovar and Bagmati.
