Training for ‘Disaster Reduction’ started in Hetauda

Makawanpur: – A six-day disaster mitigation training for trainers has been started in Hetauda from today in the joint effort of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law of Bagmati Province and the Bagmati Provincial Police Office, Hetauda.

The ministry has decided to impart training on disaster mitigation to various local level representatives and police in 10 districts except three in the districts of the Kathmandu Valley, where Armed Police Force, Janapath Police and local level municipal police and representatives are to attend the training.

The training are being conducted in the presidency of the Principal Secretary of Bagmati State, Dr. Man Bahadur BK. Inaugurating the program, State Secretary Dr. BK suggested to be aware in the time since, Bagmati State is a risky province from the point of natural calamities.

He stressed to find a solution to all kinds of disasters of our life within the time with appropriate decision at the right time.

He expressed the view that the country and the people could be saved from the great loss of the disaster only if the state level invests in disaster mitigation considering the risk before the disaster strikes.

Similarly, Chief District Officer of Makawanpur, Govinda Prasad Rijal, said that the risk could be minimized only by making proper use of the disaster management cycle. He said that pre-preparation are necessary to reduce the incidence of natural calamities in Makawanpur.

Also, he added that the necessary cooperation is needed as the disaster mitigation work would be successful only with the coordination of the three levels of government.
