20 Lakhs doses of vaccine is to be arrived

Makawanpur: – Covax and recently purchased vaccines are expected to enter Nepal within two weeks. Under which, 20 Lakhs doses of vaccine purchased by Nepal will come to Nepal from India. The second batch of Covax vaccine, initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO), is also expected to arrive this month, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

According to the ministry, in the first phase, it was committed to provide 22 Lakhs and 68 thousands Covax grant to Nepal, but only 348,000 vaccines were introduced in Nepal in the first phase according to the installment system. It is estimated that out of 19 Lakhs and 20 thousands doses, only 600,000 vaccines will be given in the second phase. The second phase of the vaccine will be delivered in May , according to the Covax campaign.

Chief of the Vaccine Supply Management Branch Upendra Dhungana informed that it has not been decided when it will be sent in installments. According to him, Nepal has initiated talks to bring the vaccine from India within two weeks.

Dr. Samir Adhikari, Joint Spokesperson of the Ministry, informed that the vaccination campaign, which has been postponed in Nepal, will be resumed as soon as the vaccines arrive.

Till Now, 17 Lakhs people have been vaccinated. Of these, the second round of vaccination is yet to be given to the last vaccinated. This news is in today’s Gorkhapatra daily.
