Dozens more honored, including speaker of the Bagmati State

Makawanpur: – Newa: Guthi Khal: Makawanpur has honored more than a dozen people, including Bagmati State Speaker Sanukumar Shrestha.

On the occasion of the first general assembly of Newa: Guthi Khal: Makawanpur on Saturday, Speaker Shrestha, State MP Juneli Shrestha, Deputy Mayor of Thaha Municipality Khadga Gopali, President of Nepal Intelligence Association Ekalal Shrestha and others were honored for their contribution to the development, value and respect of Nepal and Newar community.

Similarly, Newars who have achieved special place in various fields were given certificates of appreciation and Newar senior citizens above 90 years of age were honored with congratulatory letters.

The honoring program was chaired by Anil Khadgi, Chairman of Newa Guthi Khal and hosted by Dormani Paudel, Chief Minister of Bagmati Pradesh.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Paudel expressed his words for the Newar community to be vigilant in preserving the Newari language and culture. Stating that the state government has allocated Rs 10 Lakhs for the construction of Shankhadhar Sakhwa Park, he said that the Shankdhar Sakhwa Park under construction should be made pure Newar cultural.

On the occasion, Shrestha said that Ranjana script (Newari language) and Nepal Sambat have made significant contribution for the existence of Nepal and the state (government) should play a special role in preserving Newari language and culture.

Similarly, Shrestha said that he would play a role for the development of the Newar community and expressed that the park should be made attractive culturally.

Bishnu Gopal Maharjan, president of Newa: Cultural Pucha: Makawanpur, Yagya Bahadur Shrestha, president of National Land Rights Forum Makwanpur, Newari Dolakha linguist and journalist Bal Krishna Shrestha, Ganesh Kumar Shrestha, president of Rotary Club of Makwanpur Kavin Sangamil and others expressed their views at the program.
