Recommendation of first super zone for potato farming in Makawanpur
Makawanpur: – The vegetable zone in Makawanpur district has been recommended for super zone under the Prime Minister’s Agriculture Modernization Project. A meeting of the Prime Minister’s Agriculture Modernization District Project Implementation Coordination and Monitoring Committee held on Thursday decided to recommend the district’s vegetable zone as a super zone.
A meeting chaired by committee chairman Raghunath Khulal made the recommendation. The meeting has recommended a total area of 1,050 as super zone, covering 600 hectares from Thaha Municipality-1 to 12 and 450 hectares in Indrasarovar village under the jurisdiction of the vegetable area operated in Makawanpur for the past four years. The district coordination committee will decide on the super zone by making a recommendation to the state ministry of agriculture and the state ministry to the center.
The meeting also prioritized the crops produced in the district. He said that the crops and livestock business being produced in the district have been prioritized on the basis of the data received from the local level agriculture branch and representatives. The meeting has given priority to potato farming in the district based on the data and details received from the local level. Similarly, maize farming has been given priority in the second, goat rearing in the third, paddy in the fourth and ginger and ginger farming in the fifth.
Agriculture related programs are conducted by classifying small commercial agricultural production centers (pockets), commercial agricultural production and processing centers as zones and agro-industrial zones as super zones. The meeting has recommended accordingly.
Chairman Khulal said that the program will help the farmers in technical, small irrigation products and market management. It is said that the program has been launched with the objective of making the country self-reliant in agriculture by establishing commercial agro-based industries from the agro-based economy.
During the meeting, Chief District Officer of Makawanpur, Govinda Prasad Rijal, said that the program should be implemented soon as it is possible. The meeting was attended by the heads and representatives of the concerned organizations.
