The role of the state in the field of journalism must be inspiring – Deputy Speaker Tamang
Makawanpur: – Recalling the important role of the media sector for the country and the people, Deputy Speaker of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly Radhika Tamang said the state should also play an inspiring and coordinating role to make the media sector more responsible and empowered.
Addressing the inaugural function of five-day training on multimedia and online journalism organized by the Office of the Registrar of Communications, Bagmati Pradesh at Dhulikhel, Kavre, Deputy Speaker Tamang said the public’s trust in the media sector should be more responsible.
Deputy Speaker Tamang also expressed confidence that the training would be very useful in creating and communicating quality news. She said that the Office of the Registrar of Communications, established under the Provincial Media Management Act made by the Bagmati Provincial Assembly, is working to support journalists and journalism.
Speaking on the occasion, Registrar of Communications Revati Prasad Sapkota said that journalists should collect, produce and disseminate news in a responsible manner.
At the inauguration ceremony, Yadu Gautam, vice-president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Bagmati Pradesh, and Motiram Timalsina, president of the Kavre branch, suggested the journalists to gain more knowledge from the training and become more responsible in the field of journalism.
Nineteen journalists from Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Dolakha, Kavre, Sindhupalchowk, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Nuwakot and Makwanpur are participating in the training.
Pravesh Subadi and Umesh Shrestha will train the participants on the theoretical and practical aspects of online journalism.
