Request to convene a meeting of the ‘House of Representative’
Makawanpur: – The Supreme Court has overturned the government’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives and ordered to convene a meeting of the House of Representatives within 13 days.
A constitutional bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabra, Justices Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Anil Kumar Sinha, Sapna Pradhan Malla and Tej Bahadur KC has ruled that the dissolution of Parliament by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will be annulled and the House will be convened within 13 days.
On the recommendation of Prime Minister Oli, President Bidhyadevi Bhandari dissolved the parliament on Poush-5. Thirteen separate writ petitions were filed in the Supreme Court alleging that Oli’s move was unconstitutional. All the writ petitions were being heard in the Constitutional Court for a month and finally decision has been taken by Supreme Court.
