Seminar program on the occasion of National Unity Day

Makawanpur: – Nepali Congress Makawanpur has organized a seminar in Hetauda on Thursday on the occasion of National Unity and Reconciliation Day.

The program was chaired by Nepali Congress Makawanpur Acting President Vishnu Prasad Lamichhane and Central Member Mahalakshmi Upadhyaya Dina was welcomed as Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Upadhyaya said that the Nepali Congress would remember the day when the founding leaders of the Nepali Congress, VP, Ganesh Man, Shailja Acharya, Khum Bahadur Khadka and other top leaders returned to Nepal with a policy of national reconciliation.

 

 

Stating that the communists had won the majority in the country and allowed the government to run for five years, they had axed the people’s vote and held the country hostage due to their internal conflicts.

The Nepali Congress has been celebrating the day of returning home after the eight-year long exile of the late Iron Man Ganesh Man Singh and other top leaders along with the great man Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala on the 16th of Poush 2033 BS as the National Unity and Reconciliation Day.

 

 

 

After the then King Mahendra dismissed the government of the people-elected Prime Minister BP Koirala and and started the Independent Panchayat system in 2017 BS, Koirala and other leaders were jailed for seven years whereas Koirala and Congress leaders had entered India in 2025BS.

However, the Congress leaders, including the BP, who came to Nepal with the policy of reconciliation, were arrested by the then Panchayat system and the king and kept in Sundarijal prison.

Acting President Lamichhane, Secretary Buddha Lama, Treasurer Gopilal Bishwakarma, District Member Arjun Prasad Dahal, President of Nepal Women’s Association Laxmi Shrestha and others spoke about the contribution of BP and Ganeshman and national unity and reconciliation.

 

 

 

 

The seminar was attended by NC Makawanpur office bearers, general committee members, advisors, district members, regional presidents, vice presidents, office bearers and members of fraternal and well-wishers’ organizations, active members and general members.
