CM Paudel laid the Foundation Stone of ‘Milk Powder Plant’ building
Makawanpur: – Chief Minister of Bagmati State, Dormani Paudel has laid the foundation stone of ‘Powder Milk Plant’ in Hetauda which is to be built by ‘State Milk Development Board’ at Hetauda Sub-metropolis ward no.10, Sisaundharee.
Addressing the function, Chief Minister Paudel has set up a powdered milk plant to make the milk produced by the farmers economically self-sufficient and aims to earn foreign exchange through future competition in the international market.
He clarified that the government is making arrangement for cold storage for the consumption of seasonal green vegetables and milk produced by the farmers without wasting it due to lack of market.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Agriculture, Land, Management and Cooperatives, Dr. Sharan Kumar Pandey, said that the construction of the building will be completed within a year and a half with a grant of Rs 41 Crores 22 Lakhs and 71 thousands.
The aim is to purchase 60,000 liters of milk daily from 22,000 farming families in Bara, Parsa, Rautahat of Province no.2 and Chitwan and Makawanpur of Bagmati and produce 5 metric tons of powdered milk daily informed Head of Information Board Shatrughan Shah.
On the occasion, Minister for Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives Dawa Dorje Lama said that the state government has introduced a special package program for animal husbandry and seasonal vegetable cultivation in all 13 districts of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Tikabal Sapkota, Vice-Chairman of the State Dairy Development Board and Narayan Prasad Devkota, Central Chairman of the Dairy Cooperatives Association of Nepal expressed concern over the lack of market for farmers. Now that the state government is in the process of establishing powdered milk and category, farmers should not be worried about financial shortage, he said.
