Efforts of State Government to bring ‘Hetauda Ropeway’ into operation
Makawanpur: – Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Development of Bagmati State Rameshwar Phuyal has informed that the state government has already started its efforts to study the feasibility of Hetauda Rope way- 42 km long connecting Hetauda and Kathmandu.
He added the discussions are being done with the technicians to bring the rope way into operation as per the budget allocating program for the current FY 2077/78.
According to the suggestions and schedule provided by the technicians, the budget would be allocated and the technology for connecting various equipment as well as cable wires would be mobilized soon, He said.
Nepal Rope way Hetauda- Kathmandu had been operating to carry the goods and commodities since 2020 BS.
After that, due to the malfunction in the cable wire and some equipment at various stations from Hetauda, the operation of rope way was hampered from 2056 BS.
Hari Prasad Upreti, branch officer at the ministry of Physical and Infrastructure Development, said that the technicians are contacting the concern agencies for maintenance, replacement of new wires and purchase of new trolleys for 7 stations including Teku, Matatirtha, Tangla of Kathmandu to Fakhel and Deurali of Makawanpur.
Prabhakar Pandey, a grocer from Hetauda, said that they were transporting foods, vegetables, clothes, cements, zinc sheets and medicines to the local of Fakhel, Sisneri, Ipa, Panchakanya and Kulekhani from Hetauda at very affordable prices when the rope way was in operation.
