Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.

The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes, and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently and not touching your face. The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).

During this pandemic, NGO based organization; Sahayogi Man Nepal, Makawanpur has been active since the beginning. Some of the appreciable works of Sahayogi Man are as followos:

  • It has distributed 200 pieces of Mask and Dettol soap to the police in the Armed Forces No. 14 Battalion in Makawanpur. Mask and Dettol soaps are distributed saying that the security forces may also be affected by the coronavirus that is spreading worldwide.
  • Sahayogi Man has provided food and water to the people walking from Chitwan to different areas of Makawanpur and other districts.
  • It has donated food to a postnatal woman. Food relief has been provided to a postnatal woman of Phakhel who is staying at Chowkitol of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan Ward No. 1 of the district.
  • The Indian pedestrians, who reached Makawanpur on foot from Bhaktapur after losing their livelihood due to the lockdown, have been assisted by a team of Sahayogi Man.
  • Also provided food to the pedestrians who came from Kantilokpath via Chapagaun Tikabhairav after taking 3 days from Bhaktapur and crossed the Makawanpur district border by vehicle.

There are much more work and effort of Sahayogi Man Nepal to help vulnerable people who are actually affected by the pandemic situation and lockdown.
