Makawanpur: – Students studying at the Institute of Forest Studies (Forestry) have blocked the east-west highway demanding protection of wildlife. On Sunday, students studying at the campus blocked the highway saying that the stakeholders had not shown any interest in the conservation of wildlife inside the campus.
They blocked the highway with slogans like ‘Campus administration is mortalism, Chittal cannot be killed, and such administration is not needed’.
The students say that they have been compelled to protest as the administration has remained silent even after repeatedly drawing the attention of the campus administration demanding to save the wildlife of forestry’s jungle.
They have demanded that the open area of the campus should be closed, the road area should be cut and a wall should be built in the campus, proper arrangements should be made for the protection of wildlife, the sub-metropolitan government should manage stray dogs and the dogs should not be left unattended.
In the last one week alone, three chitals have been found dead at the Forest Campus, they said. One chital was found dead in the campus on Sunday and three chitals a week use to be found.
According to the students, 16 chitals have been found dead in restricted area of Forestry Campus so far.
