Makawanpur: – In Makawanpur, third gender Sanjivani Lopchan has obtained citizenship in the name of a woman for the first time. Lopchan, 31, of Bakaiya Gaupalika ward-3 has obtained citizenship in the name of the woman from the District Administration Office, Makawanpur on Wednesday. Lopchan was 17 years old before 14 Years old, at that time; she had obtained citizenship in the name of the Sanjeev Lopchan.
However, after realizing that his desire for women, even if he is a man, was seen in him, his response is that the citizenship made in the name of a man has become inappropriate. That is why the citizenship has been done in the name of women, she said. Lopchan said it was not easy to get citizenship in the name of women. She complained that many third genders have not been able to get citizenship due to the government’s policies and laws regarding the weak economic situation. She said that the government should make it possible to get citizenship easily by implementing new policies and rules.
Dev Chandra Gartaula, Information Officer of the District Administration Office, Makawanpur, informed that the citizenship exchange was held as per the law of Nepal. He said that citizenship exchange is done by the decision of the Council of Ministers on the basis of gender reassignment after the issue of third gender rights was raised.
Gartaula informed that a hospital certificate of gender reassignment is required for this. He said Sanjeevani was granted citizenship on the basis of a hospital certificate from Thailand.
Earlier, Ajita Bhujel had obtained citizenship from Makawanpur for the first time in the name of third gender. She was assassinated last year.
