Speaker can’t run away showing procedures for division of votes to committee: – Lama
Makawanpur: – Whip of the main opposition party Nepali Congress Bagmati Pradesh Chhiring Dorje Lama has objected toward the statement made by Speaker Sanukumar Shrestha by adding the no-confidence motion to the drafting committee.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Speaker Shrestha said that the meeting of the Provincial Assembly had to be postponed repeatedly as the drafting committee had not submitted its report.
Lama, who is also the coordinator of the committee, objected that Speaker Shrestha was trying to evade himself by joining the drafting committee to the adjournment of the meeting.
He said that the Work Management Advisory Committee of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly has formed a draft committee on Magh-6 with eight members of the committee and the secretary of the provincial assembly secretariat as the secretary of the committee. It was also decided that the committee would prepare a draft of the working procedure and present it in the meeting of the Work Management Advisory Committee. According to Lama, the committee has already informed the Speaker Sanukumar Shrestha and the Secretariat to call the meeting but he always ran away.
He demanded on behalf of the committee to prepare an environment for the Speaker Shrestha to convene a meeting of the Work Management Advisory Committee and submit a report.
Stating that there would be no impediment to the discussion on the no-confidence motion due to the working procedure, he clarified that the committee had no role in the failure to convene the Working Management Advisory Committee and the State Assembly.
The seventh session meeting of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly has been repeatedly postponed. Speaker Shrestha had posted the notice on Magh-19 and adjourned the meeting till Phalgun-5. He informed that the meeting of the state assembly has been postponed till further notice at 6.35 am.
A no-confidence motion was filed by 45 Prachanda-Madhav MPs against Chief Minister Dormani Paudel at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat on Poush-5. Opposition parties Nepali Congress, Prachanda-Madhav faction of CPN and other parties have been demanding immediate convening of the state assembly meeting saying that the meeting has been postponed instead of discussing the no-confidence motion and concluding it.
