Awareness program for the conservation of Habitats
Makawanpur. The Botanical Research Center, Makawanpur has organized an awareness program for the conservation of the habitat of rare and endangered plants in the Bankariya and Chepang communities of Manahari Rural Municipality
The awareness program had been organized among the ‘Bankariya Community’ of Handikhola of Manahari Rural Municipality.
More than 30 people attended the program, said Raghuram Parajuli, head of the Botanical Research Center, Makawanpur and the program was facilitated by Chief Parajuli, Botanical Assistant Sagir Hussain and other staffs.
According to Parajuli, the awareness program has been organized with the objective of emphasizing on the conservation of the habitat of rare and endangered plants as the Bankariya and Chepang communities live around the forest and depend on tubers for food.
He said that the people of Bankariya and Chepang communities have acknowledged the declining natural availability of forest roots such as Gittha, Vyakur and Tarul.
