Establishment of “Office of Electric Transport Board”
Makawanpur: – The Bagmati State government has set up an “Office of the state Transport Operation and Management Board” to operate electric buses in a systematic and effective manner.
Inaugurating the office set up by the government at Hetauda today, Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development of Bagmati State Rameshwar Phyuyal informed that the state government has put forward a plan to bring pollution-free and renewable energy based transport service in operation by displacing fossil fuel transport vehicles by 2085 BS.
Addressing the occasion, he also said that electric and renewable energy based buses would be properly managed by setting up recharge center, refresh centers and well-organized bus park at the required places in collaboration with all local levels.
According to him, in the first phase, the plan of operating electric bus service will be taken forward by giving priority to the Kathmandu-Makawanpur road section along with the Kathmandu ring road.
Also on the occasion, Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Development and Chairperson of the State Transport Operation and Management Board steering Committee Sanjeev Baral said that the board has been formed as per the concept of operating the transport sector through the state government. He assured that the board would manage the existing transport system easily.
Dr. Sahadev Bahadur Bhandari, the newly appointed acting executive director of the board, said that the board would play a role in making the long-term goal of giving priority to electric vehicles by replacing the fuels vehicles within a certain time.
It is said that 17 Manpower will be mobilized in the board at different levels. The state government has put forward a plan to operate more than 30 electric buses on various roads across the state.
