CPN Dispute: Pressure will be exerted to withdraw government’s decision in today’s meeting
Disputes within the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) have escalated again. Criticisms of the government have been started from within the party member after the ordinance on the Constitutional Council was brought without any discussion within the party though the standing committee was in progress.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the CPN Standing committee is being held today. Earlier, a condolence motion was passed on Sunday and the meeting was adjourned till today.
Leaders have informed that today’s meeting will be centered on the Constitutional Council brought by the government and will be discussed in the meeting as well as PM and Chairman KP Sharma Oli said that meeting will be centered with those who are dissatisfied saying that ordinance was brought without any consultation within the party.
When PM Oli brought the ordinance on the Constitution Council yesterday, the majority members of the secretariat, including executive Chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal, have become dissatisfied. They demanded to return the ordinance brought by the Oli without any discussion within the party members.

As soon as the ordinance was issued, the majority members of the disgruntled standing committee had a discussion in Khumaltar yesterday. They have concluded that they will instruct Oli to withdraw the ordinance in today’s meeting.
The controversy within the party has escalated after the PM brought the ordinance while it is time to focus on resolving the contradictions within the party members and the problems it has cause.
Along with the ruling party, opposition parties and others have also protested against the ordinance. The meeting of the Constitutional Council was held yesterday evening but did not make any decision. According to the newly issued ordinance, the meeting can now be held in the presence of the majority of the members of the council including the chairperson and decision can also be taken. Earlier, the meeting could be held if five members were present.
Earlier, the Prime Minister’s ordinance on the division of political parties and the Constitutional Council was issued without any discussion after member stood against, the ordinance was returned.
