Kathmandu. The process of Korea, which was stopped due to the Corona epidemic, will start immediately. It has also been decided to extend the two year roster waiting to go to Korea after passing the Korean Language. Due to Covid-19, the entire process of EPS was postponed due to the strict entry of Migrants to Korea and Nepal’s lockdown.

On Wednesday, the Migrant Trade Union (MTU) and KCTU had a discussion with the director of the Migrant Workers Department of the Ministry of Employment and Labor of Korea about conducting the entire process of entry and stay of migrant workers in Korea under EPS.

After the discussion, it was decided to extend the roster period by 6 months and take initiative to bring migrant workers by resuming the stalled process, said MTU Chairman Uday Rai. During the discussion, MTU stressed on the need to bring migrant workers who have been barred from coming to Korea as soon as possible, extended the two-year period on the roster by not allowing them to come due to corona, the company owner should not cancel the contract while workers are on leave, and stop exploitation of workers.

Ministry Officials present at the meeting said that the migrant of New Migrant workers from Cambodia has been stopped since March due to Corona Pandemic. He said that arrangements would be made to bring in workers from Nepal and other countries soon and the six-month term of expiring workers would be extended. Out of the 56,000 quotas in 2020, 33,100(59.15) licenses were issued, and as of October, Only 6,074 new migrant workers had entered Korea.
