Bagmati State: Both factions of CPN waiting for NC’s decision

Makawanpur: – Both factions of the CPN are awaiting the official decision of the Nepali Congress, the main opposition party that has decided to perpetuate or remove the Bagmati State Government.

The Nepali congress is in a ‘decisive’ position after a no-confidence motion was filed in the state assembly against the CM Dormani Paudel of Oli’s party to bring Asthalaxmi shakya of Dahal’s faction  to the CM chair without the support of Congress.

The state Parliamentary party of the Congress is waiting for the direction of the Center in this regard.

The 45 MPs out of 80 MPs of CPN had filed a no-confidence motion. Meanwhile, Alemgar, Krishna Bhurtel and Prakash Shrestha had withdrawn their signatures and there are 37 MPs in favor of the CM. The 43-members Prachanda-Nepal faction must get 56 votes to pass the no-confidence motion.

The congress has 22 votes out of 110 members in the state assembly. There are three members of Bibekshil Sajha, two of RPP, two of Nepal Majdoor Kisan and One independent MP.

Regarding motion, CM Paudel has claimed that the no-confidence motion registered against him will be rejected.

Asthalakshmi Shakya, the leader of the Dahal-Nepal faction nominated as the CM, has claimed that she will get the support of the Congress and smaller parties. ” The CPN has not been formally divided, which is making it difficult us to make a decision,” said Nima Lama, secretary of the Congress Parliamentary party. Proposals of No-confidence as per Constitutional provision, if it is passed and the Congress does not show interest in Joining the government then the state Assembly will be dissolved.

“If the no-confidence motion is passed, the other party can claim to form a government, but for that, a formal letter of party split must be received in the state assembly. He said.

Congress parliamentary party leader Indra Bahadur Baniya said that discussions were being held with both the groups of the CPN “We will hold the meeting after the decision and direction of the central committee meeting,” he said. The Dahal-Nepal group has assigned state in-charge Narayan Dahal, deputy in-charge Ashtalakshmi Shakya and state assembly member Shalikram Jammakattel to consult with other parties.

From the Oli group, Chief Minister Paudel and Chief Whip Keshav Raj Pandey are holding consultations with the Congress and smaller parties. The Provincial Assembly Secretariat has started internal preparations to finalize the no-confidence motion through the voting process. Speaker Sanu Kumar Shrestha said that the no-confidence motion would be finalized in a procedural manner. A meeting of the Working Advisory Committee has been called on Tuesday.
