Property worth Rs 1.3 million was gutted when fire broke out at a house in Phidim Municipality-4 of Panchthar district.

The disaster happened at 6pm on Tuesday at the house of Somnath Dhakal. The fire is believed to have started due to a short circuit.

The fire destroyed the house and all goods inside including Rs 100 thousand in cash, five tolas of gold, the District Police Office Panchthar said. One tola is equivalent to 11.66 grammes.The fire was brought under control by security personnel and locals with the help of two fire engines belonging to the Phidim Municipality.
