Adding structures at ‘Hetauda Smarak’, preparation for the establishment of ‘Adivasi Janajati Museum’
Hetauda. A museum of Indigenous Tribes will be established in the Martyr’s Memorial Complex at Hetauda Sub-metropolitan Wada No.11, Nawalpur. Currently, the construction of the museum building has reached the final stage.
According to Neupane, the launch of the Janapati Museum has been delayed due to various reasons. He said that the decision was taken to set up a museum with the main objective of preserving the culture of the tribes in the district. It may take some more time because the work has been stopped due to Corona Pandemic.
However, the committee has to establish a museum as soon as possible. Neupane says that the museum will be a special place for the internal and external tourists who come to see the beautiful scenery of the monuments. The martyr’s study and research center will be established in the memorial premises and materials on the biography of the martyr and his contribution to the democratic movement will also be kept. A statue of 12 martyrs carved on the same large stone and a separate zoo have been set up at the Martyr’s memorial.
The statue of BP Koirala, Ganeshman Singh, Pushpalal, Manmohan Adhikari has been erected on the north side of the monument. Crowds of tourists flock to the Martyr Memorial for its breathtaking scenery. The monument, which has been closed for a long time, as seen an increase in the number of domestic tourists after Dashain. Neupane says there is little hope that the situation will return to normal. Neupane said that the monument has become a center of attraction for both internal and external tourists by installing a suspension bridge, Thahastambh, Buddha Statue, ManmohanUdhan, Swimming Pool, Forest Picnic site and one-horn rhino statue.
Tourists from various cities of India and countries including Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Maldives also visit the memorial. The committee is facing financial crisis as foreign and domestic tourists are not allowed to visit the monument due to the ban. Neupane informed that the remuneration of the employees were provided by taking loan of 30 Lakhs from different sources after facing financial crisis. According to the Committee, 410,000 foreign and domestic visited the monuments in the previous fiscal year 2075/76 and earned Rs. 1 Crore and 25 Lakhs only.
However, in the current fiscal year, the committee has stated that the losses have to be borne due to the impact of the Ban of Corona. It is said that information center, training room, guest building etc. are to be built in the premises to bring the committee into operation effectively. The committee has written to the State Government, the Ministry of physical Infrastructure and the Sub-metropolis for the construction of a 2 Kilometers road from the memorial to the Shaktipeeth of the holy area to the north.
The state government has been requested to construct additional road connecting Thanabharyang to Bhairav Danda Manamohan View tower and the memorial to increase the traffic of foreign tourists by conserving the green environment inside the monuments and managing the tourist spots in the other areas of the districts.
The ‘Shahid Memorial’ was established on 15 Baishakh 2050 BS on the initiative of the then Makawanpur District Development Committee and Hetauda Municipality. Then then DDC president BirBhadur Lama had laid the foundation stone of the monument. The memorial was inaugurated by then CPN-UML Chairman and Prime minister Manamohan Adhikari on Margh-13 of 2051 BS.
