He stated that rising geopolitical tensions, deepening inequalities, intensifying climate shocks, and the rapid advancement of new technologies without guardrails have introduced unprecedented global challenges.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that these challenging circumstances make the patient and steady work of peacebuilding more critical and necessary today than ever before.<\/p>\n<p>Highlighting the Commission\u2019s successful track record over the past two decades, the Secretary-General recalled its success in Colombia, where peacebuilding was grounded in local realities with increased participation from women and youth. Similarly, he noted the Commission&#8217;s vital role in convening cross-border cooperation in the Sahel region and supporting the first local elections in 30 years in the Central African Republic.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Secretary-General, the Peacebuilding Fund has taken risks to invest in sustainable peace across more than 70 countries globally.
