Makawanpur:<\/strong> – Chief of the ‘District Coordination Committee’ Raghunath Khulal said that the reconstruction work in Makawanpur district is satisfactory addressing a press meet organized in Hetauda on Sunday on the occasion of the completion of five years of the establishment of the ‘National Reconstruction Authority’.<\/p>\n

Khulal mentioned that significant progress has been made in the reconstruction of private housing and school infrastructure in the district after the devastating earthquake of 2072 BS. He said that although there were some problems at the beginning, the overall work was achieved with the help and cooperation of all.<\/p>\n

Stating that the Makawanpur district is ahead of the other districts in the reconstruction work, he said that it should not be just and earthquake and the remaining reconstruction work should be completed after getting rid of it. He stressed on the need to complete the remaining work in time with the coordination of all three levels of government.<\/p>\n

The progress details of the reconstruction were made public by the ‘Earthquake Reconstruction Authority District Project Implementation Unit Grant Management, Education and Building office.’<\/p>\n

Chief of the District Project Implementation Unit Grant Management Office, Bimal Kishor KP, said that out of 34,188 houses identified, so far 32,805 (93%) have signed agreement, 78% have received the 2nd and 65% have received the third installment.<\/p>\n

According to him, the reconstruction of private houses of 22,105 people in the district has been completed so far. Of the 26 high-risk settlements in the districts, 22 have been relocated, 627 beneficiaries are at risk, 5575 have been permission to build houses in the same place and 61 landless beneficiaries have purchased land at another place.<\/p>\n

Also, Badri Bahadur Pathak, Chief of District Project Implementation Unit (Education) said that out of 793 classrooms of 252 schools building in the district from the fiscal year 2079\/074 out the second phase of the FY 2075\/076 , 789 classrooms have been constructed. He informed that the reconstruction of the toilet has been completed.<\/p>\n

The 48-room building of one school has been handed over as the Asian Development Bank’s model school and the 48-room building of three schools has reached the final stage.<\/p>\n

Similarly, out of 41 schools being constructed with JICA loan, 278 classrooms of 27 schools have been completed and handed over and construction of 14 schools is in the final stage.<\/p>\n

He also informed that the construction work has been started for the management of 217 rooms, 79 toilets and 85 schools buildings received through the school management committee through an agreement reached during the last FY 2076\/077. He said that 1226 classrooms of 304 schools have been completed so far and the tender process for the construction of 132 classrooms of 11 schools has been started with the loan assistance of the ‘Japanese Government’ and the process for the construction of three schools with the loan assistance of the ‘Asian Development Bank’.<\/p>\n
