Makawanpur. One has to pay a fee to visit the largest and oldest Makawanpurgadhi Durbar, one of the historical forts of Nepal in Makawanpurgadhi Village Municipality of Makawanpur.<\/p>\n
The village municipality has signed a contract agreement to collect the fees from Mangsir-13. Until then, there was no charge for visiting the palace area. The Makawanpur Gadhi Village Municipality Office has started charging fees from tourists visiting Durbar area from this year.<\/p>\n
Chief Administrative Officer Ram Kumar Pudasaini said that the village municipality has started collecting fees through contract. According to him, a contract worth Rs. 1.3 million has been awarded from Mangsir to Asar. Pudasaini informed that it has been decided to charge a small amount from the tourists for cleaning, upgrading and making the Durbar area tourist friendly.<\/p>\n
Domestic tourists visiting the Durbar area will be charged Rs 15, foreigners Rs. 50, Small vehicles Rs. 10 and Large vehicles Rs. 100 for parking in the area. Similarly, a fee of Rs. 1,000 has been fixed for the same cooked picnic and Rs. 500 for dry picnic. Pudasaini, chief administrative officer of the village, said that Rs. 3,500 has been fixed for film shooting and Rs. 2,000 for music video shooting in Durbar area.<\/p>\n
The village municipality has stated that no fee will be charged from the local on ‘Bijayutsav’, Teej, Thulo Ekadashi and Krishna Janmashtami. Pudasaini infomed that the fee has been waived as the locals have been worshiping at Krishna’s temple inside the palace during the festival. Various political parties and locas had protested against the decision of the village municipality to impose entrance fee in the Gadhi Durbar area. Despite the protests, the decision to charge the village council has been implemented.<\/p>\n
